On August 24, the Balochistan Bar Association had gone on a three-day strike and accused intelligence agencies of kidnapping both the lawyers. The Balochistan High Court chief justice, who took suo motu notice of the kidnapping, had asked the authorities concerned for both the lawyers’ safe and early recovery. However, these directives went unheeded because those who kidnapped him are answerable to none. He has been murdered because he is a Baloch and every Baloch is now deemed a suspect by the state.

Canadian Baloch step up to the plate to help victims of enforced disappearances

Baloch activists, who have escaped Pakistani tyranny, and who are now living in the freedom of Canada, are increasingly bringing the plight of their people and homeland to the notice of Canadian authorities.

Texas-sized Balochistan, named after the freedom-loving Baloch people –once called the wild herds of southwest Asia --, has been in the throes of a a popular uprising against Islamabad since early 2005 that has left countless dead. More than 8.000 freedom activists have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistan's ruthless army – the fourth largest in the world – at one point or another during the last five years.

Baloch are treated as aliens in their own homeland

Torture and kidnapping of the Baloch in Balochistan by law enforcement agencies, especially the paramilitary forces, has become common practice in the last few years. They kidnap us, arrest us on false charges, torture us, brutally murder us and then throw our corpses away. Many of us are still missing. The reasons behind these incidents are that we are Baloch by ethnicity and we are continuously demanding for the respect of our rights and the recognition of our identity. This mistreatment happens to the Baloch at all levels; rich and poor, educated and uneducated.

Remembering Disappeared Baluch on International Day of the Disappeared

On this day, 30th August 2010, the fate of tens of thousands of innocent Baluch youth and elders remains unknown. Thousands of Baluch families in occupied Baluchistan are looking for justice for their beloveds and peace of mind for themselves in particular and for the Baluch society in general. The issue of enforced-disappearances in Baluchistan is not a new phenomenon; it started from the day when Baluchistan has been illegally occupied at gun point. Since the illegal occupation, the occupying states, Iran and Pakistan, have been committing gross human rights violations in Baluchistan. Thousands of Baluch have been forcefully disappeared and hundreds of thousands have been killed in cold-blood and massacred by aerial bombardments by these ruthless and uncivilised states. Thousands have been extra judicially executed. The ideal solution of all the problems of Baluchistan lies in the Independence of Baluchistan.

The Missing Baloch: The Tragedy of Zakir Majid

The International Day of the Disappeared on August 30 is an annual commemoration day created to draw attention to the fate of individuals imprisoned at places and under poor conditions unknown to their relatives or legal representatives. In Balochistan, since 2005 there had been more than 8000 enforced disappearances including women and children under the age of twelve years and currently over 1100 documented Baloch political activist are held in incommunicado by Pakistani Army. Balochistan is a Texas sized state occupied by Pakistan and Iran. This is the fifth uprising by the Baloch populace against the Pakistani Regime for Baloch nationhood.
